STEP's shortlist for the 2021/22 Private Client Awards features 66 firms and 12 individuals.

STEP has announced the shortlist for the 2021/22 Private Client Awards, with 66 firms and 12 individuals from across the private client industry selected by an expert panel of judges.

We had an impressive number of international entries for the Awards this year, with 297 submissions received from 23 countries. Finalists include individuals and firms from Australia, Canada, the Cayman Islands, Guernsey, Hong Kong, Jersey, Mauritius, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

Founded in 2006, the Awards celebrate excellence in private client practice and are widely seen as a hallmark of quality in the industry. A total of 17 categories were open to law firms, accountancy firms, trust companies, financial advisors, multi-family offices and boutique advisory services internationally. Several firms made the shortlist in two categories, with three firms, Penningtons Manches Cooper, UK; Carey Olsen, Guernsey; and Forsters, UK selected in three.

An entrant from Portugal, Rogério M. Fernandes Ferreira TEP, made the shortlist in two categories, Advocate of the Year and People’s Choice – Trusted Advisor of the Year.

The complete list of finalists is available at pca.step.org/finalists-2021.

STEP’s Chief Executive Mark Walley said:

‘Rising to the opportunities and challenges the pandemic has brought, we continue to see remarkably high quality in the trust and estates industry, and we are proud to celebrate it. We are especially pleased to have received such a high number of international entries, demonstrating the reach of the Private Client Awards, and of STEP, across the globe. Our virtual ceremony in September will be a marvellous opportunity to highlight excellence in private client practice and I am very much looking forward to it.’

Chair of the Presiding Judges Mary Duke TEP said:

‘The judges had a significant number of very high quality submissions to assess, and we are pleased to see they continue to be increasingly international. With the standard so high, I would note that it’s an achievement in itself to make the shortlist, and I’d like to congratulate everyone who’s made it this far.’

The winners will be announced at a Virtual Awards Ceremony taking place on 23 September 2021. Sponsors of the Awards include Katten and McDermott Will & Emery.
