Virtual STEP UK Tax, Trusts and Estates Conference 2020

The Virtual STEP UK Tax, Trusts and Estates Conference, taking place on 4 November 2020, is established as the essential annual update for all UK practitioners. As you would have experienced with the in-person conference, we bring you six leading industry experts covering crucial topics to bring you up to date in the current climate.

The conference will run according to the below session order and timings with the ability for live Q&A with speakers during their sessions. The various sessions will be available to watch on demand after the event for 30 days. The system also offers the ability for 1-2-1 chat between delegates and exhibitors, and attendees will be able to access the platform 1 week prior the event in order to download supporting materials from the speakers ahead of their sessions.

This event will count towards an attendee’s CPD requirement to their professional association. For those needing to measure CPD in hours, this event would qualify as 6 hours of CPD.

Delays in estate administration – tips to avoid the common pitfalls

A survey by Direct Line Group suggested that the administration of an estate can be delayed by more than nine months as a result of beneficiaries going missing. Missing beneficiary cases can cause some delay – but what else can hold things up?

In this session, Fraser and Fraser will put forward practical straightforward solutions for some of the problems probate practitioners have to deal with from time to time. Topics covered will include:

Missing beneficiaries, whether on probate or intestate administrations. Identity, whereabouts, and capacity for beneficiaries to be distributed to. For example, are they bankrupt? Indemnities.
