Joining STEP in Australia

Each module in the programme gives you 30 Diploma Level credits towards STEP membership. You need 60 Diploma Level credits to become an Associate and 120 Diploma Level credits to become a Full STEP Member (TEP).


The College of Law

The LLM (Applied Law) – Wills & Estates or Estate Planning at The College of Law can be used towards STEP membership. An LLM (Applied Law) with a major in Wills & Estates or Estate Planning from College of Law NSW will provide 120 credits towards applying for Full membership


The University of New South Wales Business School

The Master of Taxation (applied) at UNSW Business School provides the following courses which have been recognised as meeting the STEP requirements for full membership and the award of TEP.

  • Taxation of Capital Gains
  • Taxation of Trusts
  • Taxation Strategies in Financial Planning
  • SMSF Law

Specialist Accreditation Scheme

In the legal profession, an Accredited Specialist is a practising solicitor who has demonstrated specialised competence in a particular area of law and has been conferred Specialist Accreditation by the Law Society under its Specialist Accreditation Scheme.
