The 2020/21 STEP Private Client Awards are now open for entries.

The Private Client Awards celebrate excellence in private client practice and are recognised as a hallmark of quality across the industry. Now in their 15th year, the Awards have 17 categories open to individuals and firms worldwide.

Entries are open until 30 April 2020 to both STEP members and non-member private client practitioners. The finalists will be announced in June. Any private client solicitor/attorney, accountant, barrister, banker, trust manager, financial advisor or other relevant practitioner is free to enter.

Our judging panel represents STEP’s international membership, with experts from Barbados, Canada, the Cayman Islands, Italy, Hong Kong, Jersey, Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.

This year we will be accepting entries for People’s Choice Trusted Advisor of the Year, Geoffrey Shindler Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession and Lifetime Achievement Award.

Chair of the Presiding Judges, Mary Duke TEP, an independent advisor to families in the US, said, ‘The Private Client Awards are known the world over as a showcase for STEP and the private client world, and I’m honoured to be chairing the judges’ committee. Last year we had a record number of entries, and winners, from across the globe. I know from experience, the rigour and impartiality of the judging process, and note that being shortlisted provides excellent recognition among our peers and winning is a fantastic accolade. So, if you are considering entering, I’d urge you to do so!’

STEP’s Chief Executive Mark Walley said, ‘The Private Client Awards are deservedly a highlight of the STEP calendar, where we recognise and showcase the best in the industry. We are particularly proud of the objectivity of the judging process and the breadth of their approach, with a wide range of categories available. I thoroughly enjoyed my first Private Client Awards last year and I’m much looking forward to September’.

Greg Limb of KPMG, which won the Accountancy Firm of the Year (large) last year, said, ‘It was brilliant to win and we were delighted to have done so. This is the event that everyone looks out for, because we know the rigorous process that goes on to judge the winners, so winning was a real validation for the work that we do as a practice and for all the hard work of the team’.

STEP is also delighted to announce its new charity partner for the Awards, the World Literacy Foundation, a global not-for-profit that works to lift young people out of poverty through literacy. STEP does not charge an entry fee for the Awards, and instead encourages a donation to the Awards Charity. Last year STEP raised over GBP80,000 for Operation Smile.

The 2020/21 STEP Private Client Awards ceremony will be held on 24 September 2020 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London.
